Make A Joyful Noise

For SATB Choir
2004
Dur: 6:30
Dedicated to William Entriken, choirmaster of the Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of New York City

Make A Joyful Noise was commissioned in honor of the 15th anniversary of the church’s organist and choir director, William Entriken. The texts for the piece were drawn from Psalms 100 and 9. The piece features a soprano solo sung by the choir’s soprano soloist, Ellen Goff Entriken, who also celebrated her 15th anniversary at the church.

Texts drawn from Psalms 100 and 9:

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands
Serve the LORD with gladness
Come before his presence with singing
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving
And into his courts with praise
Be thankful unto him and bless his name
Know ye that the LORD he is God
Alleluia

I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart
I will show forth all thy marvelous works
I will be glad and rejoice in thee
I will sing praise to thy name

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands
Serve the LORD with gladness
Come before his presence with singing
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
Alleluia
Amen
