Bless The Lord, O My Soul was commissioned by John Bate for a dedication concert on the refurbishing of the organ at St Peter’s United Methodist Church in Ocean City, NJ. The text is drawn from Psalm 104. The piece was premiered at that concert on October 18th, 2003, with the composer conducting.

Bless the Lord, O my soul. Praise the Lord!
The glory of the Lord shall endure forever. The Lord shall rejoice in his works.
I will sing unto the Lord for as long as I live.
